Throughout my life’s work, I have come to understand that movement is a natural form of medicine. Movement can be used to bring your body back to equilibrium where it is out of balance. It can strengthen weak points, and can be used as therapy to release tension from areas that hold the most stress. But most importantly, movement lifts your spirit to help you experience a greater quality of life. This is why I teach Pilates.
As a ballet dancer from a young age, movement became a second language to me. At the age of 13, I was advised to practice Pilates, to supplement my dance training, as a method of preventing injury. Through practice of the Pilates technique, I became even more interested in the mind-body connection, which led me to become certified in Pilates during my first year in college. I was fortunate to complete my certification with the esteemed Rael Isacowitz at Body Arts and Science International in 2007. After graduating Magna Cum Laude with a B.A. in Dance from Loyola Marymount University, I began dancing and teaching professionally in Los Angeles. I later went on to complete two additional years of post-baccalaureate study in Anatomy and Kinesiology to bring a more scientific perspective to my work. My priority is staying current through continuing education and certifications, which further deepen my work in every capacity.
My teaching style is a fusion of my knowledge of Pilates, dance, and movement science. I believe in differentiating my teaching method for each individual client, as every body is unique and requires specific and tailored care. To me, it is truly a gift to be able to help people move more freely and without pain. It is my mission to help people find their strength and balance, and ultimately help them feel the most at home within their own bodies.
